The judicial process is progressing against Waunyae Arrington, a 29-year-old Cleveland man charged with the murder of Jose Ervin Jr. in Garfield Heights. Jose Ervin, 32, was fatally shot on October 4 around 2:45 a.m. near a Dunkin’ Donuts at the intersection of Turney and McCracken Roads. Arrington, who was indicted by a Cuyahoga County grand jury on multiple charges, was apprehended in Columbus last Tuesday. The indictment includes one count of aggravated murder, two counts of murder, two counts of felonious assault, and one count of having weapons under disability, each accompanied by specifications for firearms and violent offenders, according to a report from WKYC.
Arrington’s criminal record predates these accusations, with prior convictions for weapons charges and robbery, including an 18-month prison sentence that began in 2021. In a heartfelt statement to WKYC, Scierra Ervin, Jose’s widow, conveyed the profound impact of her loss: “It’s been hell, it has, because it’s like my worst nightmare come to reality. This is my biggest fear, and I’m forced to live in it.”
