Fake Gun Incident: Teen Taken into Custody at West Geauga High School Football Game
A teenager was arrested on Friday night after brandishing what appeared to be a firearm at a high school football game in Ohio. The incident occurred during the match between West Geauga High School and Hawken School in Chesterland, as reported by WKYC.
Authorities quickly responded after receiving reports of a teen with a weapon at the game. The 16-year-old suspect, who does not attend West Geauga High School, was taken into custody. Upon investigation, it was determined that the item he brandished was a “look-alike gun.”
Fortunately, no injuries were reported during the incident.
In a joint statement, West Geauga High School Principal Ryan Patti and district superintendent Rich Markwardt emphasized, “The safety and security of our students, staff, and community members remain our top priority.” They confirmed that the school is fully cooperating with law enforcement during the investigation and will provide updates as necessary while respecting the privacy of those involved and the ongoing legal proceedings.
