Former Home of Eliot Ness in Lakewood Now on the Market for $3 Million
The former home of Eliot Ness, the famed “Untouchables” agent, recently hit the market in Cleveland for $3 million. As of Wednesday, the property is already under contract, according to the listing agency, Karen Eagle Group.
Located in the exclusive “Clifton Lagoons” community in Lakewood, the waterfront property overlooks the Rocky River at Clifton Beach. Originally built as a boathouse in 1901 for inventor and car manufacturer Alexander Winton, the residence has a rich history. It was later owned by Vernon Stouffer, the founder of Stouffer Foods.
Karen Eagle described the home as “a charming lakeside retreat that resembles a castle, despite its modest size.” She emphasized its unique appeal, noting that it combines grandeur with coziness, offering a beach and the warmest of the Great Lakes as its front yard.
The 3,079-square-foot property features three bedrooms, two and a half bathrooms, and a third-story penthouse.
Eliot Ness, after his iconic work during Prohibition in Chicago, served as Cleveland’s safety director starting in 1935 and ran for mayor in 1947, though unsuccessfully.
