Charges Filed Against Two Individuals for Ohio Postal Worker Murder

The U.S. Department of Justice announced on Thursday that two individuals have been indicted in connection with the fatal shooting of a U.S. postal worker in March. Kaprise Sledge, 24, and Thomas Sledge, 44, face serious charges of murdering a U.S. officer and using a firearm in furtherance of a violent crime, according to court records.

If convicted, both could face a maximum sentence of life in prison.

The incident unfolded on March 2, when Warren police responded to reports of gunfire on Olive Avenue. Upon arrival, officers discovered the victim, 33-year-old postal worker Jonte Davis, inside his delivery vehicle. Despite immediate first aid administered by police, Davis was later pronounced dead at Trumbull Regional Medical Center.

Authorities have labeled the shooting a “targeted attack.” The investigation into the case continues as the community seeks justice for the fallen postal worker.
