Garfield Heights Woman Hospitalized After McDonald’s Assault Incident
A Garfield Heights woman was assaulted at a McDonald’s restaurant on Wednesday, according to Independence Police.
At approximately 12:51 p.m. on October 16, officers responded to a report of a fight at the McDonald’s located at 6201 Brecksville Road. Upon arrival, they found Tiffany Bulanda lying on the ground, visibly in pain and unable to feel her leg.
Bulanda recounted that the attack stemmed from a misunderstanding involving one of the assailants’ children. She asked McDonald’s staff to call the police, but claimed they attempted to intervene instead, trying to separate the three women involved in the altercation.
Surveillance footage captured the incident, showing the struggle escalate until Bulanda ended up on the ground. Following the attack, the two assailants, identified as Tori Hawkins and Carilyn Lopez, fled the scene but were later located and charged with felonious assault.
Bulanda was transported to a hospital for her injuries, where she underwent surgery to have rods and screws inserted into her leg.
As of now, attempts to reach McDonald’s for a statement have been unsuccessful.
