“23-Year-Old Charged in Fatal Shooting of Father, Painesville Police Report”

PAINESVILLE, Ohio (WOIO) — A Painesville man was fatally shot by his son early Sunday morning, according to Painesville Police.

Officers responded to reports of a shooting at 12:53 a.m. in the 300 block of Stanford Street. Upon arrival, they discovered a 67-year-old man had been shot and killed in his home by his 23-year-old son, Christopher Paul Farmer.

Farmer was detained at the scene and taken to the Painesville Police Department for questioning. He has since been charged with murder. The Painesville City Fire Department, Lake County Coroner, and the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation also responded to process the crime scene.

Farmer has been transported to the Lake County Jail, where he is being held without bond pending his arraignment, scheduled for Monday at 1 p.m. in Painesville Municipal Court.
