Tragedy Strikes: One Teen Dead, Two Injured in Akron Halloween Party Shooting

A shooting at a Halloween party in Akron Saturday night resulted in the death of one teen and injuries to two others.

According to a release from Akron Police, officers responded to reports of gunfire at a residence in the 100 block of Paris Avenue around 10:46 p.m. Upon arrival, they found an 18-year-old girl suffering from severe gunshot wounds.

Additionally, police discovered a 16-year-old boy and a 17-year-old girl who had sustained non-life-threatening injuries. Both of the younger victims managed to flee the scene after being shot, and they are expected to recover.

Tragically, the 18-year-old girl was pronounced dead at the hospital. The identities of the victims are being withheld as the investigation continues.

Preliminary investigations suggest that during the Halloween party, an unknown man brandished a firearm and began shooting inside the house, striking the teens. Police apprehended an 18-year-old man after a brief foot chase and recovered a handgun he discarded while fleeing.

At this time, the exact role of the man in the shooting remains unclear. He has been charged with carrying a concealed weapon and obstructing official business and has been booked at the Summit County Jail.
