Ohio Man, 21, Arrested with Arsenal of Guns Discovered in Chicago’s Trump Tower

A 21-year-old man has been charged following a SWAT incident at Trump Tower in River North. Brandon Peck, from Ohio, faces two felony counts of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon and possession of firearms without a Firearm Owners Identification (FOID) card, along with one citation.

During a detention hearing on Wednesday, prosecutors revealed that police discovered two loaded firearms in Peck’s hotel room at Trump Tower, along with a duffel bag containing live rounds and additional magazines, including an extended magazine. Further investigations led to the recovery of two more firearms—one in Peck’s car and another in his stepfather’s hotel room—both of which were also registered to him.

According to reports, the incident began when a hotel employee spotted the two guns in Peck’s room and alerted Secret Service agents, prompting the Chicago Police Department to respond around 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Peck was taken into custody without incident upon their arrival.

Following the detention hearing, Peck’s defense attorney, Michael Cheronis, argued that his client had brought the firearms for personal protection. “We have President Trump, who is a fervent admirer of the Second Amendment. I find it a little bit ironic that you can go to his hotel but can’t bring firearms into them,” Cheronis stated.

The judge in Peck’s case granted him pre-trial release, concluding that he did not pose a real and present threat to the public.
