Honor Our Veterans: Veterans Day 2024 Celebrations in Northeast Ohio
Veterans Day 2024, which falls on Monday, November 11, will be a day to honor and celebrate veterans and active military members across the nation. Northeast Ohio is marking the occasion with a range of events, from parades to ceremonies, to pay tribute to those who have served. Here are some of the key local events to attend:
Akron
On Friday, November 8, at 11:30 a.m., the Akron Municipal Court and Glendale Cemetery will host a tribute to Civil War veteran Lewis P. Buckley. The ceremony will take place in the Civil War Memorial Chapel, followed by a walking tour of the cemetery. This marks the fifth year of the court’s tribute to a local veteran.
Beachwood
Cuyahoga County Public Library will hold a Veterans Day concert at the Beachwood Branch on November 11 from 3 – 4 p.m. The High Notes will perform patriotic music during the event.
Brunswick
The American Legion Post 234 and VFW Post 9520 will hold a Veterans Day ceremony on Monday, November 11, at 11 a.m. at Brunswick City Hall.
Canton
The annual Veterans Day Event & Expo will take place at the Pro Football Hall of Fame from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. U.S. service members, National Guard members, and veterans will receive free admission, along with a guest.
Chagrin Falls
The Chagrin Falls Veterans of Foreign Wars will host a Veterans Day ceremony on November 11 at 11 a.m. at Triangle Park and the Chagrin Falls Fire Department.
Cleveland
The City of Cleveland will hold its 2024 Veterans Day ceremony at 11 a.m. on Monday, November 11, in the City Hall Rotunda. The ceremony will feature presentations, awards, and a parade that will depart from City Hall at 12:30 p.m. Veterans are also invited to the Veterans Resource Fair at Estabrook Recreational Center on November 13 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Green
The Green Veterans Day ceremony will take place at Veterans Memorial Park on November 11, starting at 10:30 a.m.
Mansfield
A Veterans Day Parade will be held on November 11, beginning at 10:30 a.m. The parade will start on Park Ave. West and continue east to the Gazebo in Central Park, where a Veterans Day program will follow.
Mentor
Mentor’s Veterans Day ceremony will take place at 11:11 a.m. on November 11 at the Mentor Municipal Cemetery Memorial Promenade.
North Canton
The North Canton Veterans Day ceremony will be held on November 11, from 11 a.m. to noon at Bitzer Park.
Oberlin
Oberlin’s Veterans Day Appreciation Ceremony will be held at 4 p.m. on Monday, November 11, inside the Oberlin Elementary School gymnasium. The event will feature keynote speakers, musical selections from the student band and choir, and light refreshments afterward.
Parma
American Legion Parma Heights Post 703 will hold its Veterans Day ceremony at 11 a.m. on November 11 in the Post Hall. The ceremony will feature stories from veterans, including a special 100th birthday celebration for a World War II veteran on November 14.
Wadsworth
Wadsworth will host its Veterans Day parade on November 11, starting at 10:50 a.m.
