Cleveland Police Arrest Kevin Joiner for April Murder of Shannon Collins

Kevin Joiner, 24, of Cleveland, has been arrested and charged with aggravated murder in connection with the death of Shannon Collins, according to a statement from Cleveland Police.

Joiner was arraigned on Friday morning in Cleveland Municipal Court and is currently held at the Cuyahoga County Jail on a bond set at $1,000,000. Authorities allege that Joiner “knowingly caused the death of Shannon Collins by means of gunfire” on April 17. Collins, 38, from Euclid, was found dead on East 123rd Street near Imperial Avenue in Cleveland’s Mt. Pleasant neighborhood, having suffered multiple gunshot wounds to the head, neck, and upper body.

Joiner is the third individual charged in this case. Charlie Cooper was arrested on April 30 and subsequently indicted on charges of murder and felonious assault. Additionally, 27-year-old Nicole Meadows was indicted for obstructing justice but did not appear for her arraignment on May 30, leading to a warrant being issued for her arrest.

In addition to the murder charge, Joiner faces accusations related to a violent carjacking that took place on April 10, during which he allegedly assaulted the victim with a firearm. Investigators believe that Joiner has ties to the Heartless Felons gang.

Before his arrest, Joiner was designated as a “violator at large” and was wanted by the Adult Parole Authority. He had been released from prison in January after serving time for robbery and other offenses.
