Elyria Woman Arrested for Fifth DUI Offense Since 2010
An Elyria woman with four prior drunken driving convictions was arrested early Sunday morning after being found intoxicated in the middle of an intersection. Jamie Milton, 40, of Lexington Avenue, faces a felony DUI charge, a misdemeanor DUI refusal charge, and disorderly conduct due to intoxication. She posted bond and was released from the Lorain County Jail on Monday.
According to Elyria Municipal Court records, Milton is scheduled to appear before a judge on Thursday. No attorney has been listed for her.
Elyria police responded shortly before 1:30 a.m. to reports of a woman sitting in the street at the intersection of Fairlawn Avenue and Clark Street. Initial reports indicated that she was not wearing pants.
Upon arrival, officers found Milton standing next to a gold 2004 Nissan SUV with the keys in the ignition and hazard lights activated. Police observed that she appeared to have urinated in the roadway, and her pants were wet.
Milton was uncooperative with officers, initially refusing to provide her name and denying ownership of the vehicle. However, a police database check confirmed that the SUV was registered in her name. Additionally, paperwork from a previous DUI charge was found in the car, but Milton denied driving, responding with “inconsistent and slurred” statements, according to the police report. She refused to undergo sobriety tests and a breath test, leading to her arrest and transport to the Lorain County Jail.
Milton’s most recent conviction occurred in February 2022 when she pleaded guilty to two counts of felony DUI stemming from a 2021 arrest. She was sentenced to 60 days in Lorain County Jail, one year of probation, and had her driver’s license suspended for three years. Records show that she completed her probation in December 2022.
Prior to this, Milton faced misdemeanor DUI charges in Elyria Municipal Court in 2010, 2011, and 2013.
