$800 Million Mega Millions Jackpot Won by Texas Player, Seventh Largest in Game History
According to Cleveland19, The $800 million Mega Millions jackpot has been claimed by a lucky player from Texas, marking the seventh largest jackpot in the game’s history.
According to Mega Millions, the winning ticket was purchased at a Murphy USA gas station in Sugar Land, Texas. If the winner chooses the cash option, they will receive $404.2 million.
The numbers drawn were 1, 2, 16, 24, 66, and the Mega Ball 6.
In addition to the jackpot winner, tickets sold in California, Florida, New York, and Washington matched five of the numbers, each earning $1 million.
The Mega Millions jackpot has now reset to its starting amount of $20 million for Friday’s drawing. The odds of winning the jackpot are 1 in 302,575,350.
Mega Millions is notable for being the only lottery game to have awarded six jackpots exceeding $1 billion, with winners in New Jersey, Florida, South Carolina, Maine, Illinois, and Michigan.
