89-Year-Old Cleveland Resident Awaits Help to Remove Tree Limb from Roof After Tornado

According to source, In August, tornados swept through Northeast Ohio, leaving destruction in their wake, including downed trees and limbs across the region. One of the affected homes belongs to 89-year-old Beverly Pendelton, who has lived on Iroquois Avenue for nearly 55 years. A large tree limb remains lodged on the roof of her house.

Pendelton has made numerous calls seeking assistance with the removal, but so far, she has not received help.

“I’ve called everyone I could think of – the Center for Aging, the City of Cleveland, the Crisis Center. I’ve even tried 311 and 211, but no one has helped me,” Pendelton said.

Anthony Hairston, the Ward 10 councilman, confirmed he has reported the issue multiple times to the city. However, it wasn’t until the 19 Troubleshooter team stepped in on Thursday that any progress was made. Pendelton was informed that efforts to remove the tree limb are underway, pending the completion of paperwork.

John Laird, assistant manager of the Cleveland Department of Public Works, assured the 19 Troubleshooter that Pendelton’s situation would be addressed.

“She’s not stuck with that thing on her house. There’s a program we have in place to help her, and I’ve got her application right here. I don’t know how long it will take, but it’s in progress,” Laird said.

While it may still take a couple more weeks, the process to remove the limb is finally in motion.
