Ohio Man Sentenced for Child Rape: ‘Monsters Belong Behind Bars’
Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost conveyed a powerful message following the conviction of Eric Dearth, stating, “Monsters belong behind bars.”
Dearth, 56, was found guilty in September on three counts of rape involving a victim under the age of 13. Yost announced Dearth’s sentencing on Thursday, highlighting the gravity of the case.
“This man will soon fade from society’s memory, leaving nothing but the nightmare of his wicked deeds,” Yost stated in a press release.
As a result of the conviction, Dearth was sentenced to life in prison. He will be eligible for parole after 30 years and will be required to register as a Tier III sex offender if he is ever released.
