Celebrate Veterans Day 2024 with Parades and Ceremonies in Northeast Ohio
Veterans Day 2024 falls on Monday, Nov. 11, and will be a time to honor and celebrate veterans and active military members across the nation. Several cities throughout Northeast Ohio will hold parades, ceremonies, and other events in recognition of the sacrifices made by veterans. Fox 8 News has compiled a list of local events you can attend to observe this important day:
Akron
On Friday, Nov. 8, at 11:30 a.m., the Akron Municipal Court and Glendale Cemetery will cohost an in-person tribute to Civil War veteran Lewis P. Buckley. This will be the fifth year the municipal court has hosted a November event to honor local veterans. The ceremony will take place in the Civil War Memorial Chapel at Glendale Cemetery, followed by a walking tour of the site.
Beachwood
The Cuyahoga County Public Library will hold a Veterans Day concert at the Beachwood Branch from 3 – 4 p.m. on Nov. 11. The High Notes will perform patriotic music during the event.
Brunswick
American Legion Post 234 and VFW Post 9520 will host a Veterans Day Ceremony at 11 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 11, at Brunswick City Hall.
Canton
The annual Veterans Day Event & Expo will take place at the Pro Football Hall of Fame from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Nov. 11. U.S. service members, National Guard, and veterans, along with one guest, can attend for free. For more details, visit the event page.
Chagrin Falls
The Chagrin Falls Veterans of Foreign Wars will hold a Veterans Day Ceremony at 11 a.m. on Nov. 11 at Triangle Park and the Chagrin Falls Fire Department.
Cleveland
The City of Cleveland will host its 2024 Veterans Day Ceremony at 11 a.m. on Nov. 11 in the City Hall Rotunda. The ceremony will feature presentations, awards, and a parade departing from City Hall at 12:30 p.m. Additionally, the Cleveland City Department of Community Relations invites veterans to attend the 2024 Veterans Resource Fair at Estabrook Recreational Center on Nov. 13 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Green
The Green Veterans Day Ceremony will take place at Veterans Memorial Park on Nov. 11, starting at 10:30 a.m.
Mansfield
A Veterans Day Parade will be held on Nov. 11, starting at 10:30 a.m. The parade will begin on Park Ave. West and continue east to the Gazebo in Central Park, where a Veterans Day program will follow.
Mentor
The Mentor Veterans Day Ceremony will begin at 11:11 a.m. on Nov. 11 at the Mentor Municipal Cemetery Memorial Promenade.
North Canton
The North Canton Veterans Day Ceremony will be held on Nov. 11 from 11 a.m. to noon at Bitzer Park.
Oberlin
The Veterans Day Appreciation Ceremony in Oberlin will take place at 4 p.m. on Nov. 11 inside the Oberlin Elementary School gymnasium. The event will feature keynote speakers, speeches, and musical selections by the student band and choir, followed by light refreshments.
Parma
American Legion Parma Heights Post 703 will hold a Veterans Day ceremony at 11 a.m. on Nov. 11 in the Post Hall. The ceremony will include stories from veterans and a special ceremony to honor a World War II veteran who will turn 100 years old on Nov. 14.
Wadsworth
The Wadsworth Veterans Day Parade will start at 10:50 a.m. on Nov. 11.
