Residents of Orange County, Florida, including the greater Orlando area, have a limited time to claim potentially significant amounts of unclaimed money. The opportunity to retrieve these funds will end by summer’s close, so it’s essential to act quickly.
Unclaimed Checks in Orange County
The Orange County Clerk of Courts has reported that some checks sent to residents have gone uncashed. This situation may have resulted from recipients moving without updating their addresses or simply forgetting about the checks.
To address this, the Clerk of Courts has set up the Unclaimed Checks List. This portal allows residents to search for their names and check for any unclaimed funds.
Range of Amounts
The uncashed checks range from as little as eight cents to as much as $10,000. They belong to individuals, businesses, and organizations within Orange County.
How to Claim Your Funds
To claim any unclaimed money, residents must visit the Orange County Clerk of Courts website and search for their names by September 1, 2024. If you don’t find your name but believe you might be owed money, you can submit an inquiry before the deadline.
Any checks not claimed by September 1 will be forfeited and redirected to the Clerk’s Fine and Forfeiture Fund.
