Cash App Users Can Claim Up to $2,500 from Data Breach Settlement – File Now

According to The Sun , Users of a popular payment app can claim thousands in compensation following a data breach settlement. Cash App customers are eligible for a portion of a $15 million class-action settlement after a security breach, with payments potentially reaching over $2,500. However, users must act quickly—the deadline to file a claim is November 18.

The settlement covers Cash App users who had accounts between August 23, 2018, and August 20, 2024, and experienced unauthorized withdrawals or transfers. Plaintiffs in the class action claimed that the app and its parent company, Block (formerly known as Square), failed to prevent unauthorized access and mishandled complaints regarding security breaches and fraud. While Block denied any wrongdoing, the company agreed to settle to avoid further litigation costs.

Claimants can seek reimbursement up to $2,500 for documented losses related to fraudulent account access, identity theft, or credit monitoring, as well as incidental fees. They can also receive up to $65 for lost time spent addressing these issues. More details and claim forms are available on the settlement website.

Other Recent Settlements

The Cash App settlement joins several recent high-profile class actions. Tubi, a streaming platform, agreed to pay nearly $20 million to resolve claims that it improperly shared user data with third parties in violation of the Video Privacy Protection Act. Though Tubi did not admit fault, it will pay eligible users who submit valid claims by November 28.

Additionally, Clif Bar & Company faced a class-action lawsuit alleging misleading health claims about its products. The lawsuit argues that while Clif bars claim to offer “nutrition for sustained energy,” a substantial portion of their calories come from added sugars, contradicting the marketed health benefits. Consumers who purchased Clif bars in California or New York between April 2014 and March 2023 may qualify for compensation.
