State Farm Settles for $2M: Customers to Receive $550 Payments – Check for Your Blue Form
According to The Sun , State Farm customers in Washington may be eligible for a one-time payment following a class action lawsuit accusing the insurer of underpaying on vehicle claims. The lawsuit alleges that State Farm failed to compensate customers for “diminished value” damages, which are intended to cover the loss of a vehicle’s value after an accident causes permanent damage.
While State Farm denies any wrongdoing, it has agreed to a $2.09 million settlement to resolve the issue and avoid further litigation. Customers who meet specific criteria may be eligible for compensation, which could amount to hundreds of dollars.
Eligibility Criteria:
To qualify for a payout, customers must meet the following conditions:
Must have had State Farm Fire and Casualty Company insurance.
- The vehicle must have been covered under the underinsured motorist property damage provision in Washington state.
- The accident must have occurred between March 23, 2012, and February 13, 2024.
- The repairs must have cost $1,000 or more, and the vehicle must be no older than six years.
- The vehicle should have fewer than 90,000 miles, with structural damage, deformed sheet metal, or body paint required due to the accident.
