Northeast Ohio haunted houses named among top-rated in the US
CLEVELAND (WJW) – Get ready for a spine-tingling Halloween season without venturing far from home. Four haunted houses in the Cleveland area have earned spots on the prestigious “top haunts” list for 2024, as recognized by the Haunted Attraction Association (HAA).
The HAA, the industry’s official certification body, annually highlights the top 50 haunted attractions across the country. To make the list, attractions must meet stringent criteria related to customer protection, promotion, and education.
Here’s a look at the top local haunts you won’t want to miss:
Akron
The Akron Haunted Schoolhouse and Laboratory
Located at 1300 Triplett Blvd., this iconic attraction has been frightening Northeast Ohio for nearly 50 years. The Akron Haunted Schoolhouse and Laboratory features two chilling attractions along with a midway offering refreshments and merchandise. The Factory of Terror
Situated at 4125 Mahoning Road NE, this haunted house is renowned as one of the largest indoor haunted attractions globally, having earned recognition from Guinness World Records three times. Columbia Station
Spooky Ranch
Found at 19066 E River Rd., Spooky Ranch claims to host “Cleveland’s scariest haunted hayride,” along with five other haunted attractions. The HAA notes the use of pyrotechnics and giant, 30-foot-tall animated creatures that promise to astound visitors. The Ghostly Manor Thrill Center
Located at 3319 Milan Rd., the Ghostly Manor invites guests aged 10 and up to explore its haunted house, featuring new rooms and additional thrills. The manor’s website describes a mansion teeming with ghosts and spooky surprises. In addition to the haunted house, guests can enjoy an escape room, virtual reality gaming, mini golf, and more.
