Hurry! Last Call for One-Time Payments from ‘Fingerprint’ Settlement—No Purchase Proof Needed

According to The Sun, US citizens are urged to check their eligibility for a one-time payment of up to $3,244 as part of a significant “fingerprint” settlement. This is the last opportunity for those affected by the class action lawsuit against Magid Glove to apply for cash, with no proof of purchase required.

The settlement, totaling $5.175 million, stems from allegations that the popular protective equipment and clothing brand violated Illinois laws by using “fingerprint time clocks” and temperature scanners over an eight-year period. Anyone who utilized a fingerprint-scanning clock or had their temperature taken by one of these scanners may qualify for compensation.

According to the class action lawsuit, Magid Glove used the fingerprint time clocks and temperature scanners without adequately notifying individuals. The technology collected biometric data through these devices, which plaintiffs argue violates Illinois’ Biometric Information Privacy Act (BIPA).

This settlement affects individuals who used either device at Magid’s Romeoville, Illinois facility between January 8, 2016, and August 30, 2024. While Magid has not admitted any wrongdoing, they agreed to the settlement to avoid the time, expense, and distraction of litigation.

Eligible claimants who used a fingerprint scanner can expect to receive approximately $3,244.38. Additionally, those who had their temperature taken using a scanner may receive $135.26. Individuals who used both devices can apply for both payments.

To initiate a claim, individuals must first verify their eligibility by confirming they used either device at the designated facility within the specified timeframe. They can then visit the Magid Glove BIPA settlement website to fill out the necessary form.

Moreover, Americans are eligible for a one-time payment from a $1.9 million settlement after a popular online shoe company reportedly failed its customers. Individuals impacted between 2020 and 2022 can claim a share of this substantial settlement.

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) is sending one-time payments to thousands of customers who shopped at the shoe retailer Hey Dude. This settlement results from allegations that Hey Dude suppressed user reviews and violated refund policies, concealing 80% of reviews with three or fewer stars between January 2020 and June 2022.
