Time’s Running Out: Claim Your Portion of $115M Privacy Settlement Without Bank Proof
According to The Sun, The deadline is approaching for Americans to claim their portion of a $115 million payout stemming from privacy concerns. This settlement follows a class action lawsuit filed against cloud applications provider Oracle America, Inc. in California in 2023.
Allegations Against Oracle
The lawsuit alleges that Oracle illegally collected personal information and sold it to third parties for advertising purposes. According to the class action notice, “Oracle improperly captured, compiled, and sold individuals’ online and offline data to third parties without obtaining their consent.” The data reportedly includes web activity, online purchases, geolocation, and other personal information.
Oracle works with major companies such as Uber, AMC, and MGM Resorts. While the company has agreed to a $115 million settlement, it admits no wrongdoing.
Compensation Details
Under the terms of the settlement, claimants will receive an equal share of the settlement fund. The exact amount each claimant will receive is not currently known, as it will depend on the number of eligible claims submitted.
In addition to monetary compensation, Oracle is making changes to its operations following the lawsuit. The company plans to review its privacy systems and will cease collecting user information from forms and referral websites on its site.
Eligibility Criteria
To qualify for compensation, individuals must have had their personal information collected and/or sold since August 19, 2018. Data that may have been sold includes information accessed through ID Graph, Data Marketplace, or other advertising products used by Oracle during this period.
Final Days to File a Claim
Eligible individuals have just four days left to file a claim. Those who believe they are eligible are urged to visit the settlement website, where they will find a claim form submission portal.
