Stimulus Payments October 2024: How many states will be sending checks?
As October 2024 begins, several states are rolling out stimulus payments or tax rebates to help residents cope with economic challenges such as inflation and rising living costs. These state-level programs will provide millions of Americans with financial relief, offering a timely boost as the fall season progresses.
Alaska: Permanent Fund Dividend (PFD) and Energy Relief Payment
Alaska continues its tradition of distributing annual payments through the state’s Permanent Fund Dividend (PFD). This year, eligible residents will receive a total payment of $3,284, which includes an additional $650 energy relief payment. While many have already received their direct deposits in September, paper checks will continue to be mailed out in early October.
California: Middle-Class Tax Refund
California is disbursing the Middle-Class Tax Refund to millions of residents, with payments beginning earlier in October. The state expects that 90% of eligible individuals will receive their checks this month. Individuals earning under $75,000 can receive up to $350, with additional funds available for households with dependents. These payments are being distributed either via direct deposit or debit card.
Idaho: Tax Rebates for Residents
Idaho has approved another round of tax rebates for its residents. Individual filers will receive $300, while couples filing jointly are set to receive $600. The payments began processing in late September and are being sent out weekly, ensuring that thousands of residents receive their payments throughout the rest of the year.
Rhode Island: One-Time Child Tax Rebates
Rhode Island is offering one-time child tax rebates of $250 per child, with a maximum benefit of $750 for households with up to three children. These payments are scheduled to be distributed throughout October, providing financial relief for qualifying families.
South Carolina: Tax Rebates Up to $800
South Carolina residents can expect to receive tax rebates of up to $800 as part of a budget plan that allocated $1 billion for relief. While these payments will be issued by the end of the year, many residents should receive them in October.
Virginia: Tax Rebates for Individuals and Couples
Virginia is also issuing tax rebates this month, with $250 for individuals and $500 for couples filing jointly. Most residents can expect to receive their payments, either via direct deposit or paper check, by the end of October.
These state-level initiatives aim to provide much-needed financial assistance, helping residents to cope with rising costs as we head into the final months of the year.
