SSDI PAYMENT: Only these 2 groups of disability recipients will get a $1,539 in Few Hours

Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) payments are scheduled to continue on September 18, 2024, for eligible recipients who qualify due to a disability and have met the necessary work history requirements. With only five days left until this payment, it’s important for recipients to understand the requirements that determine when they will receive their funds.

Birth Date Requirement for September 18 Payments

To receive SSDI payments on September 18, eligible recipients must have been born between the 11th and the 20th of any month. Those who meet this birth date criterion, along with having a qualifying disability and approval from the Social Security Administration (SSA), will receive their payments on this date.

If you are an SSDI recipient but do not meet the eligibility requirements for the payment on September 18, you may still receive your funds on September 25. This latter payment is for recipients whose birthdays fall between the 21st and the 31st of the month.

Remaining SSDI Payment Schedule for 2024

It is essential for SSDI recipients to plan their finances effectively, knowing when to expect their payments. The average SSDI check as of August 2024 is approximately $1,539, with some recipients eligible for up to $3,822, though this is rare due to long-term disabilities affecting their work history.

The remaining SSDI payment dates for 2024 are as follows:

  • September: 18, 25
  • October: 3, 9, 16, 23
  • November: 1, 13, 20, 27
  • December: 3, 11, 18, 24

For the first payment of each month, recipients who have been on benefits since before May 1997 will receive their checks. Payments on the third will also include recipients of Supplemental Security Income (SSI). The Wednesday payments are structured based on recipients’ birthdays, divided into three groups: 1-10, 11-20, and 21-31.

Eligibility Criteria for SSDI Payments

To qualify for SSDI payments, applicants must meet specific criteria:

  1. Disability Duration: You must have a disability that is expected to last at least one year or result in death. This disability should significantly limit your ability to perform basic work activities.
  2. Substantial Gainful Activity (SGA): You must be unable to engage in SGA due to your medical condition. In 2024, SGA is defined as earning more than $1,550 per month, or $2,590 per month if you are blind.
  3. Work Credits: You need to have sufficient work credits based on your age and work history, typically requiring at least 5 out of the last 10 years of work. Younger workers may qualify with fewer credits.

What to Do If You Haven’t Received Your SSDI Payment

If you believe you qualify for SSDI but have not received your payment, it’s crucial to check your claim status. You can contact the SSA at 1-800-772-1213 or visit your local office. Be prepared with your Social Security number and any claim or appeal details.

For those recently approved for SSDI benefits, remember that payments cannot start until you have been disabled for at least five full months. Therefore, payments typically begin in the sixth month of disability, as outlined in the SSA notice you receive.

If your SSDI benefits were denied and you wish to appeal, you can do so online at www.ssa.gov/disability/appeal or request an appeal form (SSA-561). Appeals must be submitted in writing within 60 days of receiving the denial notice.

If you are waiting for a decision or payment and have limited income and resources, you might qualify for Supplemental Security Income (SSI). Contact the SSA to determine your eligibility.

Keeping Your Information Updated

Ensure that the SSA has your current contact and direct deposit information. If you change your address, update it immediately with the SSA to avoid delays in receiving your payments. You can also verify your bank account information for direct deposits through your My Social Security account online.
