SETTLE UP: Americans have weeks to claim $850 payment in $29.5m Citibank settlement – but you must share phone records to get cash
According to The Sun , Americans could receive direct payments of up to $850 as part of a $29.5 million settlement in a class action lawsuit against Citibank. The lawsuit, filed this year, claims that Citibank made unsolicited robocalls to consumers about past-due credit card balances over the past decade, allegedly violating the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA). Although Citibank denies wrongdoing, the bank has agreed to settle the matter for $29.5 million.
Eligible individuals could receive between $350 and $850, depending on the number of valid claims filed. However, the maximum recovery for each claimant is capped at $2,500 unless they can prove they received more than five robocalls. The deadline to submit claims is December 20, 2024, so those affected must act quickly.
Claimants can provide evidence such as phone records, screenshots, or other documentation to support their claim. The settlement applies to people who are not current or former Citibank customers but received one or more prerecorded robocalls regarding past-due credit card accounts between August 15, 2014, and July 31, 2024. The final approval hearing for the settlement is scheduled for January 14, 2025.

Claimants must submit their applications by November 18, 2024, and provide relevant documentation such as bills, invoices, or police reports for proof.
