Ohio Man Charged After Allegedly Giving Wife Gun to ‘Call Her Bluff’ in Suicide
A 71-year-old man from Ohio is now in custody after allegedly giving his wife a firearm to “call her bluff” following her expression of suicidal thoughts.
Michael Joseph Krupienski has been charged with reckless homicide in connection with the death of his wife, Maria Krupienski, 81. According to reports from The Mirror, he called 911 shortly after 12:15 p.m. to report that his wife had shot herself.
When authorities arrived at the scene, they discovered Maria’s body, which had suffered a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
The Mirror reports that just days before the anniversary of their daughter’s suicide, the couple had been drinking at a Veterans of Foreign Wars club in Avon, Ohio. While under the influence of alcohol, Maria allegedly expressed suicidal thoughts, prompting Michael to retrieve a loaded .357 Magnum handgun.
He then handed the weapon to her, allegedly to “call her bluff.” Tragically, Maria then fatally shot herself. Vermillion Police later discovered her body at the residence.
