Northeast Ohio Weather Update: Hurricane Helene Set to Impact the Region
Hurricane Helene is set to make landfall this evening over the Big Bend region of Florida, bringing with it a large and powerful storm system. While the remnant low pressure will remain to the south, Northeast Ohio will still experience some effects from the storm, including an influx of moisture.
Humidity levels are currently moderate, and temperatures tonight are expected to drop only to the lower to middle 60s.
Tomorrow, windy conditions will develop across parts of the area, with east to northeast winds gusting over 40 mph at times. The strongest winds are anticipated from the Cleveland area extending westward to Toledo. The latest forecasts indicate that showers will begin developing from south to north tomorrow.
These showers are expected to persist intermittently each day through the weekend. The system will not fully clear the region until a cold front moves in to push the remnant moisture eastward on Tuesday. Following this, much cooler temperatures are expected to settle into Northeast Ohio by the middle of next week.
