North Ridgeville School Worker Charged with Menacing and Theft in Stalking Case
A North Ridgeville City Schools employee, Hannah Freeman, was arrested on November 7 on charges of theft and menacing by stalking following incidents involving her ex-boyfriend.
According to a statement from the district, Freeman was placed on administrative leave after the school learned of the situation. “This matter does not pertain directly to school activities, and as such, the district will not be issuing additional statements at this time,” the statement said. “However, North Ridgeville City Schools is committed to cooperating fully with law enforcement to support a thorough and fair resolution.”
A report from the Westlake Police Department reveals that the incidents began on November 6, when Freeman allegedly stole two backpacks, containing computers and a wallet, from her ex-boyfriend’s car. The estimated value of the stolen items was $1,100. The victim also reported that Freeman had been repeatedly showing up at his workplace and residence, causing him emotional distress.
The following day, November 7, the victim called the police again, claiming that Freeman had followed him to his job in Westlake and was sitting inside his vehicle. Upon arriving at the scene, officers found Freeman in her car. She reportedly told them that the victim had invited her there.
Using Flock cameras, police tracked Freeman’s vehicle to the victim’s workplace 33 times over the past month, spanning 19 separate days. Freeman was arrested on charges of menacing by stalking.
North Ridgeville City Schools emphasized that its “primary focus remains on maintaining a positive and safe environment for all students and staff.”
