Missing Child with Autism Found Dead in Retention Pond After 12-Hour Search
Tragically, a missing 4-year-old boy with autism, Kaleb Jamison, was found dead in a nearby retention pond nearly 12 hours after he disappeared.
Kaleb was reported missing from his apartment around 11:45 a.m. on Tuesday. Canton Police Chief Otha Brown expressed concern over the situation, saying, “It is disturbing for a child to get out and get away, and the parents don’t know where they are.”
According to police, Kaleb’s father informed them that his son, who was autistic, had somehow walked out of their apartment. A neighbor’s Ring doorbell camera captured Kaleb walking alone in the complex, wearing a light blue shirt and Pull-Ups.
Law enforcement agencies were called in to assist with the search, going door-to-door and combing the woods in an effort to find the boy. Sadly, Kaleb was discovered in the retention pond nearly 12 hours later.
Chief Brown thanked the volunteers who helped search for Kaleb. Community members gathered to honor his memory, placing flowers and balloons at the scene.
