Jamey Haddad Returns to Cleveland’s BOP STOP for Special Performances
Jazz and global music enthusiasts in Cleveland have a unique opportunity this week as renowned drummer and percussionist Jamey Haddad takes the stage at the BOP STOP. Haddad, who grew up in Cleveland and later built an illustrious career in New York, will perform two special shows on Thursday, September 19, and Friday, September 20, at 7 PM.
A Storied Career with Global Influence
Haddad’s musical journey began in his hometown before he ventured to Berklee College of Music in Boston, where he would later become a professor. His career includes more than two decades with Paul Simon’s touring band and collaborations with a diverse array of musicians, including Yo-Yo Ma, Sting, and fellow Cleveland native Joe Lovano. Since returning to Cleveland in the early 2000s, Haddad has continued to shine on the international stage while also contributing to the local jazz scene through his role at Oberlin Conservatory.
A Trio of Talented Musicians
For these upcoming performances, Haddad will be joined by a trio of distinguished musicians: bassist Kip Reed and Venezuelan pianist Leo Blanco, both frequent collaborators. The shows will also feature trombone player and vocalist Jay Ashby and percussionist Patrick Granby, promising an evening of dynamic and eclectic music.
