A new Mega Millions lottery game is set to launch in 2025, featuring a higher ticket price but slightly improved odds of winning.
According to a spokesperson for Mega Millions, the starting jackpot will increase significantly from $20 million to $50 million, with the potential for further growth based on ticket sales. The odds of winning the jackpot will also improve, changing from 1 in 302 million to 1 in 290 million.
In addition to the jackpot changes, every ticket will now include a randomly generated multiplier for non-jackpot prizes, which can range from 2X to 10X, according to the spokesperson.
The new ticket price will be $5 per play, compared to the current price of $2 per Mega Millions ticket. The game aims to “bring more value and excitement to players” with its revamped structure and offerings.
