FREE MONEY: Women may get $1000 a month in free money from new program – Just Know How To Apply
After two years of development, a new guaranteed income pilot program is now accepting applications to provide $1,000 monthly payments to low-income pregnant women. The initiative, known as the Philly Joy Bank, is designed to offer financial support for 18 months to help improve maternal and infant health outcomes in Philadelphia.
Program Details and Goals
The Philly Joy Bank was established to address Philadelphia’s alarming infant mortality rate, which is the highest among the top 10 most populated U.S. cities. The program is particularly focused on reducing the racial disparities in infant mortality, with Black infants in Philadelphia being over three times more likely to die before their first birthday compared to White infants.
Dr. Stacey Kallem, Director of the Philadelphia Division of Maternal, Child, and Family Health, emphasized the importance of alleviating financial stress during pregnancy. “Alleviating financial stress during pregnancy can have real and positive impacts on birth outcomes. And the way to alleviate financial stress is actually pretty simple – you give people cash,” Kallem said.
Funding and Impact
Over two years, Kallem and her team raised $6 million in public and private funds for this pilot program. The initiative will provide 250 mothers with $1,000 monthly payments for 18 months, starting in their second trimester of pregnancy and continuing through one year after birth. This financial support aims to enhance maternal and infant health and address racial disparities.
Eligibility Requirements
To apply for the Philly Joy Bank program, mothers must meet the following criteria:
- Be 18 years of age or older.
- Be pregnant in their second trimester at the time of application (between 12 and 24 weeks).
- Have a total annual household income below $100,000.
- Reside in one of the targeted neighborhoods: Nicetown-Tioga, Strawberry Mansion, or Cobbs Creek, which have high rates of very low birth weights.
Application and Selection Process
A lottery system will be used to select the 250 participants. Drawings will occur every two weeks, and selected mothers will be contacted by the Philly Joy Bank Navigator to complete their enrollment. Those not chosen will remain in the lottery for a chance to be selected if they continue to meet the requirements.
Participants will receive their first payment shortly after enrollment. Immigration status will not affect eligibility for the program.
How to Apply
Pregnant women meeting the eligibility requirements can apply through the Philly Joy Bank website. The program aims to provide critical financial assistance and improve health outcomes for mothers and infants in Philadelphia.
Similar Programs in Other Cities
Other cities across the U.S. are also implementing guaranteed income programs to support their residents. For instance, American families are receiving $9,000 in unconditional payments, and some programs offer $1,400 a month for two years of unrestricted financial support.
