Former Home of Eliot Ness Hits Market in Cleveland Area for $3 Million
The former home of legendary “Untouchables” agent Eliot Ness has hit the market in Cleveland for $3 million, and as of Wednesday, it is already under contract.
Located in the exclusive Clifton Lagoons community in Lakewood, Ohio, the waterfront property sits on the Rocky River near Clifton Beach. The home was originally built in 1901 as a boathouse for Alexander Winton, a Cleveland inventor and car manufacturer. Over the years, the property has had several notable owners, including Vernon Stouffer, the founder of Stouffer Foods.
The Karen Eagle Group, which listed the property, described it as “a charming lakeside retreat that resembles a castle, despite its modest size.” With views of the beach and the warmest Great Lake as its front yard, the home is described as a “jewel box” capturing grandeur in a cozy, intimate setting.
Spanning 3,079 square feet, the home features three bedrooms, two and a half bathrooms, and a third-floor penthouse.
Eliot Ness, known for his role as a Prohibition-era agent in Chicago, later became Cleveland’s safety director in 1935 and even ran for mayor in 1947. His historic ties to the property add a unique layer to its rich legacy.
