Drunk Driver Abandons Car on Tracks, Train Collision Reported in Avon Lake

Drunk Driving Incident: Avon Belden Road

On October 19 at approximately 2:45 a.m., police received reports of an unoccupied Subaru Outback stuck on the railroad tracks just west of Ohio 83. An eastbound train struck the vehicle at 2:49 a.m. The driver was located shortly after the incident and arrested for drunk driving and failure to control the vehicle. Thankfully, no injuries were reported from the collision, although the train sent the Subaru back onto SR 83, temporarily closing the northbound lane for several hours.

Menacing Incident: Walker Road

On October 18, the department received a call from a man who threatened an officer.

Stolen Vehicle Report: Moore Road

On October 21, a patron returned to an establishment only to find their vehicle missing. The vehicle was subsequently reported as stolen.

Theft Report: Moore Road

On October 23, Geon Performance reported the theft of shielded copper wire that was being installed on a building.

Traffic Investigation: Moore Road

On October 24, police conducted a traffic stop, during which the driver lied about their identity. The driver was arrested for obstructing official business and cited for driving under suspension.

Property Damage Report: Hunt Club Way

On October 16, a mason pillar, landscaping, and outdoor lighting were damaged at the intersection of Hunt Club Way and Lear Road, likely struck by a motor vehicle.

OVI Incident: Lake Road

A driver stopped for speeding on October 17 was found to be under the influence. They were arrested and later released on a personal bond.

On October 18, an unoccupied vehicle rolled out of a driveway and struck a light post.

Traffic Stop Incident: October 22

Police stopped a driver for having an expired registration. During the stop, the driver opened a cooler to retrieve their driver’s license, revealing several bags of marijuana. The driver admitted to possessing approximately a quarter-pound, exceeding Ohio’s allowable limit.
