Drivers May Claim Up to $550 from $2.09M Insurance Settlement: Five Steps to Qualify

According to The Sun, Drivers are set to benefit from a significant settlement with State Farm, with a total payout exceeding $2.09 million. However, to receive a cash reward of approximately $550, car owners must follow specific steps to qualify for this compensation.

State Farm has reached this settlement in response to claims that it underpaid policyholders by neglecting to include “diminished value” payments in their claims. This means that individuals who used State Farm Fire and Casualty Company for vehicle repairs may be eligible for a payout.

To qualify for the settlement, certain conditions must be met. The cover applies only to those who filed claims for accidents between March 23, 2012, and February 13, 2024. Additionally, the repair estimate must exceed $1,000, and the vehicle should have been no more than six years old with under 90,000 miles at the time of the claim. Eligible vehicles must also have sustained structural damage, deformed sheet metal, or required body or paint work.

The lawsuit alleges that State Farm failed to provide full compensation for certain vehicle claims following accidents, resulting in many vehicles not being restored to their pre-accident conditions. According to the plaintiffs, Washington law mandates compensation for “diminished value” damages, which further supports their claims.

Under the terms of the settlement, class members can receive payments based on their vehicle repair costs, with amounts varying depending on the number of claims filed and the details of the repairs. Each claimant is estimated to receive around $550.
