Double the Benefits: Social Security Sends Out $943 Payments Next Month—No Additional Payments This Year
According to The Sun, Millions of Americans receiving Supplemental Security Income (SSI) will see two payments in November, but there will be no payments in December.
What is SSI?
Supplemental Security Income is a program within Social Security that provides monthly payments to individuals with disabilities and older adults who have limited income and resources. It serves nearly eight million elderly and disabled Americans, including millions of disabled children.
Payment Schedule for November
In November, SSI beneficiaries will receive:
Two SSI payments
- One Social Security check for those aged 62 and older, who are receiving government-issued retirement income.
The extra check in November is due to the way the calendar falls this year. Payments are typically made on the first of each month, but since December 1 falls on a Sunday, the schedule adjusts accordingly.
Payment Dates:
-
- November 1: First SSI payment
- November 29: Second SSI payment for December (meaning no SSI checks will be issued in December)
Upcoming Payment Adjustments
Additionally, there will be a payment on December 31, but it will be for the first check of January 2025 due to January 1 falling on a holiday.
Maximum Payment Amount
For those who qualify for the maximum SSI payment, the amount will be up to $943.
Looking Ahead to 2025
The unusual payment schedule continues into the new year. Notably:
- In February 2025, payments for March will be issued on February 28, resulting in no payments in March.
- In May 2025, beneficiaries will receive two payments, with none in June.
