“Cleveland Police Department Faces High Turnover as Dozens of Officers Leave Force”
Cleveland is grappling with significant difficulties in both recruiting and retaining police officers. According to findings from News 5 Investigators, 87 officers departed from the force between January 1 and September 1 of this year.
Records reveal that among those who left, 42 officers resigned, while 39 retired from the department. Additionally, three officers were terminated, one left for medical reasons, and two others sadly passed away during this period.
The continuous turnover highlights the ongoing challenges the Cleveland Police Department faces in maintaining its workforce and addressing the needs of the community.
