Claim Up to $1,161 in Gasoline Settlement – Simple Online Form to Fill Out

According to The Sun , California drivers who purchased gasoline between February 18, 2015, and May 31, 2017, may be eligible for a payout from a recent class action settlement. Eligible individuals have until January 8, 2025, to claim their share of the $13.9 million settlement through an easy online form that takes just minutes to complete.

The class action lawsuit stems from allegations of “anticompetitive behavior” in California’s gasoline market. SK Energy Americas, Inc., Vitol Inc., and two other individuals are accused of manipulating the spot market for refined gasoline and gasoline blending components, driving up prices. The defendants, however, deny any wrongdoing.

Details on the Settlement and Claims Process

The settlement, approved by the federal district court in San Francisco, follows a class action lawsuit filed in May 2020. The lawsuit accused the defendants of manipulating the price of gasoline on the spot market, which impacts retail gas prices.

Motorists who believe they are eligible have until the January deadline to claim their payment. A final settlement approval hearing will be held on February 20, 2025. In addition to claiming, motorists have the option to opt out of the settlement if they wish to pursue another lawsuit on the same issues. They can also object to the terms of the settlement.

Elsewhere, Drivers Face Increased Parking Fines

While some California motorists are dealing with gas settlement claims, drivers in a Massachusetts suburb are facing heightened parking fines. Lawmakers recently increased parking fees to $50 after Amazon contractors abandoned their trailers on small streets, effectively turning them into a makeshift truck stop.

In another parking-related issue, a driver in a nearby town fought a $100 parking ticket, only to have the fine waived just days before the case was set to go to trial. Patrick McCleary, who was preparing to represent himself in court, had found the ticket on his car after spending a day at the beach.
