BIG UPDATE: SNAP Payments Up to $535 This September – Full List States Food Stamps

If you’re enjoying the summer holidays or busy with work, you might not be aware of the upcoming SNAP benefits disbursement dates. Food Stamp payments began on September 1, but some states will continue delivering funds to EBT cards through September 28.

Key Dates for SNAP Payments

It’s essential to know when to expect your benefits from the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA). Some states will start issuing SNAP benefits from September 4 onward.

States Starting Payments on September 4

Five states will begin sending Food Stamps on the 4th, with delivery concluding on various dates:

  • Alabama: September 4-23
  • Arkansas: September 4-13

Additionally, Puerto Rico will issue SNAP payments from the 4th through the 22nd. Some states will start payments on September 5:

  • Georgia: September 5-23
  • Indiana: September 5-23
  • New Hampshire: September 5
  • Utah: September 5, 11, and 15

A few states will finish sending money to recipients by September 5:

  • Hawaii: September 3-5
  • Nebraska: September 1-5
  • New Jersey: September 1-5

Checking Your SNAP Benefits Balance

Online

  • Visit www.connectebt.com and select your state from the dropdown menu to access your account and balance.
  • New York residents can visit www.ebtEDGE.com for balance inquiries.

Mobile App

  • Download the ConnectEBT mobile app from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store to check your balance and review transaction history.
  • New York residents can download the ebtEDGE app for balance information.

Phone

  • Call the toll-free customer service helpline and enter your 16-digit EBT card number to hear your balance.
  • In New York, call 1-888-328-6399 for balance inquiries and recent transactions. The helpline is available 24/7 in multiple languages.

Receipts

  • Each time you use your EBT card, the receipt will display the transaction amount and remaining balance. Keep your receipts to track your balance.

In-Store

  • Many stores have point-of-sale (POS) devices where you can swipe your card, enter your PIN, and check your balance.

The maximum SNAP amount for a family of two or a married couple can be up to $535 in the District of Columbia and the contiguous 48 states. In Hawaii, the maximum for two is $967.

How to Apply for SNAP Benefits

If you’ve never applied for SNAP benefits before, here are the steps to get started:

1. Check Your Eligibility

SNAP eligibility is primarily based on household income and specific expenses. Contact your state’s SNAP information hotline or visit the SNAP website for eligibility details.

2. Gather Required Documents

Prepare necessary documents, including:

  • Proof of identity (driver’s license, photo ID, passport, birth certificate)
  • Proof of citizenship and immigration status (birth certificate, passport, naturalization certificate)
  • Social Security Number (Social Security card or photo ID with birthdate)
