4,589 Pounds of Yu Shang RTE Meat Recalled for Potential Listeria Contamination
Yu Shang Food, Inc., located in Spartanburg, South Carolina, has issued a recall for approximately 4,589 pounds of ready-to-eat (RTE) meat and poultry products due to potential contamination with Listeria monocytogenes, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced on Saturday.
The recall was prompted by routine testing, which identified the harmful bacterium Listeria monocytogenes in products produced by Yu Shang Food, Inc. between October 21 and October 27, 2024. The affected products, which have “used by” dates from August 21, 2025, to August 27, 2025, were distributed to retail locations nationwide and also made available for purchase online.
Listeria monocytogenes can cause serious infections, particularly in individuals with weakened immune systems. It can lead to listeriosis, which can be especially dangerous for pregnant women, potentially resulting in miscarriages or stillbirths, as reported by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
The affected meat and poultry products are marked with establishment numbers “P-46684” or “EST. M46684” within the USDA mark of inspection. FSIS advises consumers to avoid consuming these products and either dispose of them or return them to the place of purchase.
Consuming food contaminated with Listeria may lead to symptoms such as fever, muscle aches, headache, and gastrointestinal issues. Individuals who experience flu-like symptoms within two months of consuming these products should seek medical attention and inform their healthcare provider about possible exposure to Listeria monocytogenes.
