Ohio Burger Chain Frisch’s Big Boy to Close 6 Locations Due to $4.5 Million Debt

According to The Sun , Frisch’s Big Boy, a popular burger chain, is set to close six Ohio locations this week following a series of previous shutdowns. A Hamilton County magistrate has approved the eviction of the fast food restaurants due to mounting debt, including a $4.5 million rent shortfall. The affected locations include:

  • 4765 Montgomery Road, Norwood
  • 9070 Plainfield Road, Blue Ash
  • 9830 Colerain Avenue, Colerain Township
  • 4227 Bridgetown Road, Cheviot
  • 12150 Mason Montgomery, Symmes Township
  • 5202 Delhi Avenue, Delhi Township

Frisch’s Big Boy was given just seven days to vacate these properties. The eviction was approved on October 30, following similar rulings in Clermont County, where the chain’s locations in Loveland and Bethel were also ordered to close.

This move is part of a larger trend of closures. In the past few weeks, Frisch’s Big Boy also closed restaurants in Lebanon and Middletown. Additionally, locations in Anderson Township, Forest Park, Green Township, and Harrison are scheduled for eviction hearings in early November.

Frisch’s Big Boy, which has been facing financial challenges, previously closed five locations earlier this year, but assured the public that no more closures were planned. However, the chain has now admitted that it is at risk of losing more sites, with more than 20 locations in Southwest Ohio facing eviction.

Despite these setbacks, Frisch’s Big Boy continues to operate 78 locations across Ohio, Kentucky, and Indiana. The chain has apologized to customers, urging them to visit other open locations.

Frisch’s Big Boy is not alone in struggling to maintain operations. Competitors like Denny’s and TGI Fridays are also closing significant numbers of restaurants. Denny’s is set to close 150 locations by 2025, and TGI Fridays has shut down over 100 stores as part of a bankruptcy filing.
