Major grocery store chain raising starting pay to $23 an hour
(KTLA) – Major grocery retailer Aldi is ramping up its workforce by hiring 13,000 new employees and increasing their starting pay. This announcement comes as the company prepares for the busy holiday season and expands its presence with new stores across the country.
Competitive Pay and Benefits
Aldi has revealed that its national average starting wage for store employees will be $18 per hour, while warehouse workers will earn $23 per hour. These rates are determined based on market conditions and job positions. Additionally, employees who work over 30 hours a week are eligible for comprehensive benefits, including health insurance, paid time off, and more.
In response to employee feedback, Aldi has also introduced flexible scheduling and 100% paid parental and caregiver leave.

Aldi emphasizes career growth, noting that many employees who join the company early advance within the ranks. The retailer found that 70% of assistant store managers and over 30% of store managers started as sales associates. Employees have the opportunity to advance into roles in buying, human resources, supply chain, and other areas.
