Social Security Update: SSDI Payments Reaching $3,822 Coming Next Week
According to Vibes.okdiario, Disability Insurance payments are not over in October. October 16 is a payday for those Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) recipients who started collecting benefits after April 30, 1997, and whose birthday falls between the 11th and 20th.
Check Your Bank Account for SSDI Payments
If you are one of these SSDI recipients, you can check your bank account to see if the Social Security Administration (SSA) has already sent your payment. Remember, this will not be the last disability payment you receive in October.
Upcoming SSDI Payment on October 23
The next SSDI payment is scheduled for October 23. It’s important to note that none of the SSDI payments in 2024 will include the 2025 Cost-of-Living Adjustment (COLA) increase. Disability insurance recipients will have to wait for this boost until January.
To receive your payment on October 23:
- You must have been on benefits after April 30, 1997
- Your birthday must fall between 21st and 31st
- You must remain eligible and continue having a qualifying disability
Additionally, if you are also receiving Supplemental Security Income (SSI) alongside SSDI, your next payment will be on November 1. You’ll receive both SSI and Disability Insurance on the same payday next month. Since November 3 falls on a weekend, Social Security will send the payment in advance.

SSDI Payment Amounts Without the 2025 COLA
Both SSDI checks and direct deposits in October will have the same maximum amount. Disability Insurance recipients can receive maximum payments of up to $3,822 in 2024.
As of August 2024, the average SSDI payment is about $1,539. This amount may be more representative of what most recipients will see, as few qualify for the largest SSDI payment.
Projected Payments After the 2025 COLA Increase
After the 2025 COLA increase, effective January 3, the average payment is expected to rise to approximately $1,577. For instance, if you currently receive $1,000 in 2024, your Disability Insurance payment will be around $1,025 in 2025.
Similarly, if you receive $500 per month in 2024, you can expect about $512 in 2025. Additionally, you may qualify for Supplemental Security Income (SSI), so it is advisable to inquire at your local SSA office about your eligibility.
