Citibank Settlement: Americans Could Receive Up to $850 for Robocalls

According to The Sun, Thousands of Americans could be eligible for a share of a $29.5 million settlement with Citibank, requiring only their phone records to claim their payment. Eligible consumers could receive up to $850 if they meet specific criteria.

The settlement pertains to individuals who are not current or former Citibank customers but received unsolicited robocalls about past-due credit card balances between August 15, 2014, and July 31, 2024. The class action lawsuit alleges that Citibank made unsolicited robocalls and prerecorded calls regarding credit card balances for which the recipients were not responsible, violating the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA).

While Citibank has not admitted any wrongdoing, it has agreed to pay the $29.5 million to resolve the claims related to these unsolicited calls. Class members are expected to receive an estimated payout ranging from $350 to $850, depending on the number of claimants.

Other Settlement Offers

This settlement follows several recent payout opportunities for Americans. For example, some individuals have been notified they could receive a one-time payment of over $3,000 as part of a $5.1 million privacy settlement with Magid Gloves. This settlement arises from claims that the company violated Illinois laws by using fingerprint time clocks and temperature scanners without proper disclosures regarding biometric data collection. Anyone who used these technologies at Magid’s Romeoville facility between January 8, 2016, and August 30, 2024, is eligible for this settlement.
