Dr. Gladys Mae West works in a military lab. Her work in mathematics led to the creation of GPS.

Dr. Gladys Mae West was born in 1930. She is an American mathematician known for her contributions to the mathematical modeling of the shape of the Earth, and her work on the development of the Global Positioning System (GPS). West was inducted into the US Air Force Hall of Fame in 2018.
