The Cleveland varsity men’s soccer team played Garner Magnet High on September 17, 2019. The Rams came out with the victory, scoring 6 goals against the Trojans. Cleveland scored three goals in the first half and three in the second, balancing their offense. The leading goal scorer for the Rams on Tuesday night was Quintin Strickland, a senior at Cleveland High School. He scored three times, and Preston Taylor, Weston Myrick, and Jackson Moss all contributed one to the final score. Every player on the field contributed to the team effort to ensure a victory.
JV soccer goalie John Meese, who watched the game, was impressed by the overall team performance. He stated, “Cleveland controlled the game in dominating fashion.” With the win, the Rams improved their record to 4-2-2. As the team continues to practice and play more games, and they are becoming a stronger unit. Players are excited about the season and work hard to improve their skills in practice.
The Rams play at East Wake on Monday, September 30 at 6:30 pm. They will look to advance their record with another win. The team is ready to face important conference opponents as the season goes on as they look forward to playoff soccer.
