Eligibility for $766 in SNAP Benefits

The maximum SNAP benefit of $766 is available to households of three in the 48 contiguous states and the District of Columbia. To receive this full amount, recipients typically need to have no other sources of income or resources that would reduce their eligibility. According to the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities (CBPP), the average amount received by households of three is around $598.

September marks the last month for households of three to receive the maximum benefit of $766. Beginning October 1, 2024, this amount will increase slightly to $768 due to the 2025 Cost-of-Living Adjustment (COLA), providing eligible recipients with an additional $2 in benefits.
