According to The Sun, Americans may be in line for a substantial payment of $2,500, and all they need is a receipt to secure the funds. A recent settlement related to a data breach offers eligible individuals the opportunity to claim their share from a $700,000 payout.
Background on the Settlement
This settlement follows claims against the Henry Ford Health System, a Michigan-based healthcare group, after a data breach that occurred on March 30, 2023. According to Top Class Actions, the organization was accused of failing to adequately protect patient information in a class action lawsuit.
The lawsuit alleged that Henry Ford Health System should have implemented more robust cybersecurity measures to safeguard personal data. While the medical group has agreed to resolve the lawsuit with a $700,000 settlement, it did not admit any wrongdoing.
Data Compromised in the Breach
Approximately 168,000 individuals had their names, contact information, and medical records compromised during the incident. Affected customers have been notified by Henry Ford Health System regarding the potential compromise of their data.
Eligibility for Claims
Individuals whose data may have been compromised during the breach are eligible to file a claim. Notifications have been sent to these individuals by mail.

Claim Amounts Available

All class action members must fill out a claim form on the settlement’s official website. The deadline to file a claim is October 28, 2024.
