MLB Playoff Predictions

The MLB Postseason is set, and it features both teams from last years World Series.
The MLB Postseason is set, and it features both teams from last year’s World Series.

Another baseball season has passed, and the best 10 teams are left standing. Baseball’s best are ready to battle it out for the next month to win the World Series. The first game is the AL Wild Card game between the Minnesota Twins and the New York Yankees.

The Yankees have arguably the best player in the American League in rookie slugger Aaron Judge, who has hit 52 home runs this season.  New York is 4-2 in games against the Twins this season, and three of those wins came in Yankee Stadium, which is where the Wild Card game will be played. The Yankees are definitely the favorite to advance and play Cleveland in the ALDS.

The NL Wild Card game is between the Colorado Rockies and the Arizona Diamondbacks. Arizona ended the regular season 11-8 against the Rockies. Both of these teams were in the hunt for the lead in the NL West for most of the season. The Rockies have one of the best third basemen in baseball in Nolan Arenado, but the D-backs are pitching Zack Greinke who is 17-7 on the year. Greinke will be too much for the Rockies, and Arizona will go on to play the Dodgers in the NLDS.

The other NLDS series is between the defending World Champion Chicago Cubs and the Washington Nationals. This is almost the same Cubs team that won the World Series last year except that they started this season off poorly. The Nationals just got their best player, Bryce Harper, off of the disabled list. Washington is infamous for their postseason struggles, so Chicago should win this series in four games. The team they will face in the NLCS will be the Los Angeles Dodgers. The Dodgers have 104 wins while playing in the best division in baseball. LA should beat their division rival Diamondbacks in four games.

The ALDS has the Boston Red Sox playing the Houston Astros. This Astros team came straight out of a movie script with their best player being the smallest in baseball, Jose Altuve. They also had to play through the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey. However, they will likely struggle against the Red Sox due to the fact that they have no players with postseason experience, so Boston should win in five games. The team they will face in the ALCS will be the Indians. Cleveland is looking for revenge after losing game seven of the World Series at home to the Cubs. They will sweep the Yankees in three games to advance.

The NLCS will have arguably the two best teams in baseball, but the Cubs will be no match for the streaking Dodgers. They have the best rookie in the National League in Cody Bellinger. The Dodgers will win in six games to advance to the World series. The ALCS will have two very strong teams in the Cleveland Indians and the Boston Red Sox. This series should go the distance and reach seven games because both of the teams hate to lose and will play their hearts out in any situation. I think the Indians will take the series in seven games. This team is looking for a redemption run at the World Series.

The World Series will feature the team with the best record in baseball, the Los Angeles Dodgers. Clayton Kershaw is having another outstanding year going 18-4 with a 2.31 ERA. The Dodgers went 2-1 the only time they played Cleveland this year. The Indians also have some weapons in a Cy Young caliber pitcher, Corey Kluber. Kluber can only pitch in two games maximum in the whole series, so he might not be that big of a factor in the series. I think that this is finally the Dodgers’ year because they battled through a couple of key injuries and still ended up with 104 wins in the toughest division in baseball. The series could possibly go to six games because the Indians are a veteran team.
