May 3, 2017
CLEVELAND– As the school year at Cleveland High is coming to an end, Seniors are doing last minute things to prepare for college. Going to college is the next big step after graduation, and it can be a stressful process for Seniors. Hard work and planning can make it easier on a student while preparing for college. The following four Seniors from Cleveland know all about preparation for college:
Nicholas Greene
Nicholas Greene plans to attend UNC-Greensboro in the fall semester and major in Business Administration. He chose this school because it is known for its Business major, and also, he will not be as far from home. After college he plans to own his own business selling musical instruments and teach children and people of all ages on how to play drums.
Garrett Davenport
Garrett Davenport plans to attend Appalachian State University and major in Political Science. He selected Appalachian State because out of the other colleges he visited, he more closely identified with the school. Also, he wanted to go to a college that was in-state but is also a distance from home. His after plans after college are to attend Duke or Davidson University and get his Juris Doctor degree.
Samaria Artis
Samaria Artis is a Color Guard participant and Cleveland’s reigning Homecoming Queen, but after graduation she plans to attend East Carolina University to specialize in Nursing. She chose ECU because it is one of the top nursing schools in the state and was also near home. Samaria plans to be an Registered Nurse (RN) for a pediatrician’s office.
Deja Brockington
Deja Brockington is a cheer captain for Cleveland’s Cheer Team, but in the fall she will attend Gardner-Webb University to major in photography. She chose the school because it is a Christian-based college, and she received a scholarship from the university. After college, she plans to photograph special occasions and to give back to her community.
These are just four of Cleveland’s outstanding seniors. In the coming weeks, the CvHS Scribe will profile and feature others.
