Senior Rams Go Out in Style

CLEVELAND–The Cleveland Rams rode a strong combined pitching effort from seniors Jamar Poston and JoJo Smothers to shutout victory over the Western Harnett Eagles on Senior Night.

The win moves Cleveland (9-12 overall, 3-6 in conference) to fourth in the Two Rivers 3A conference, and it drops Western Harnett (6-16 overall, 3-6 in conference) to fifth place in the standings. The Rams can finish no better than fourth place in the conference this season.

Senior Night honored seven seniors on their final year with the team. These seniors include JoJo Smothers, Jamar Poston, Cole Brown, Dalton Sanderlin, Bobby Dixon, Tyler Theide and Chase Webster. These players were accompanied by their parents onto field and were recognized by the team and given their own profile posters.

Some of the highlights of the game include the combined shutout by Poston, with 4 strikeouts and 0 runs allowed, and Smothers, with 3 strikeouts and 0 runs allowed. Bobby Dixon went 3-3, with 2 RBI, and Tyler Theide added an RBI single in his only at-bat. Most of the Rams’ runs were scored on throwing or pitching errors by the Eagles.

The Rams conclude the 2017 season at Corinth-Holders on 4/27. The conference tournament begins next week.
